Swelter (2016) – hand-pulled screen print by Alexia Vogel

Alexia Vogel (b.1991) is a graduate of Michaelis School of Fine Art. In her nostalgic paradises moments of lucidity dissolve into states of dreamy meditation as the artist intuitively shifts between abstraction and figuration, resulting in images that are as experiences in themselves, utterly absorbing.

Since receiving the Simon Gerson Prize in her final year of study (2013), her work has been exhibited in both the FNB JoburgArtFair, the Cape Town Art Fair, and at Sydney Art Fair. The 25-year-old is represented by Barnard Gallery where she had her first solo show in March of 2015. Vogel recently had her first solo in Sydney.
